Geotechnical Engineering

What do Geotechnical Engineers do?

Geotechnical Engineers study the behavior and properties of soil and rock samples at building sites. From this, they determine the safety of building a structure upon a site, and potential environmental stressors. These engineers then create foundations for construction and ensure the safety of structures at their foundation. The work of these engineers also applies to dams and canals.

What is Geotechnical Engineering?

Geotechnical engineering is a branch of civil engineering that is concerned with the earth and its materials. It focuses mostly on soil mechanicals, rock mechanics, and hydrology to create solutions for engineering problems.
